PENSION AND LIFE CERTIFICATES

 

The Guyana High Commission notarises Life Certificates and other related NIS Documents/Forms free of charge. This service is provided to the following persons:

  • Pensioners living overseas, who are receiving NIS Pension or Government Pension (Ministry of Finance)  
  • Persons living overseas, who have attained the age of sixty (60) years and are now applying to receive old age pension under the National Insurance Scheme (NIS)  

Notarisation of Life Certificates  

The High Commission will only notarize the(NIS)  Life_Certificate and (Ministry of Finance) Life_Certificate after it has been verified that the Pensioner is alive. The following will be required: 

  • Two copies of the life certificate form (forms available at link above or on our website under the forms tab) 
  • Valid Passport or Driver’s Licence 

Please note that Pensioners residing overseas are required to submit a Life Certificate every three (3) months or at least once per year directly to the National Insurance Scheme in Guyana. Pensioners can use NIS Whatsapp Services to submit their life certificates. Please see the details in the image above. 

The High Commission will not submit these certificates to NIS on behalf of the Pensioner. 

 

First Time Applicants (Pensioners)

The High Commission offers notarisation services for the following documents required for pensioners who are now applying to receive their pension:  

  • FORM P300F1 OAB R0 - (nis.org.gy) (Application for Old Age Benefit)
  • National Insurance Scheme (NIS) Card
  • National Registration Identification (ID) Card
  • Current Passport (to be used as a supporting document alongside the Certificate of Birth)
  • Certificate of Birth
  • Deed Poll/Certificate of Marriage or any other relevant document (if there was a change of name other than that which was recorded on the original Certificate of Birth)
  • FORM P300F3A (mission.gov.gy) (if a local representative in Guyana has been appointed to uplift monthly/periodic Pension Vouchers on your behalf). 
  • FORM P300F3B (mission.gov.gy) (to apply for the Pension to be paid into the Bank) 
  • A fee will be charged for some documents that requires certification 

 

Notarisation Process 

  • Pensioners are required to appear in person (by appointment) at the High Commission in order to have the Life Certificates and other Documents/Forms notarized on the same day.
  • If you are unable to physically appear at the High Commission, then a Video Call will be scheduled between you and the Consular Officer before the notarization process can begin. Pensioners can call the Consular section to schedule video meetings.  
  • Once the relevant documents have been sent to the High Commission through the post, then the notarization process can take approximately four (4) working days to be completed

     

Note

The High Commission also notarises Life Certificates issued by the Ministry of Finance. The same process of notarisation applies.
