MISSION
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, in the discharge of its mandate to promote the interests of Guyana within the international community, is committed to preserving the country’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and to contributing to the economic and social development of the Guyanese people. The Ministry is equally committed to promoting the purposes and principles of the UN Charter, maintaining active relationships with the Diplomatic Community, through skilled, dedicated diplomatic and administrative staff; and to ensuring effective utilization of its financial and material resources.
VISION
As the principal initiator and coordinator of the formulation and implementation of Guyana’s Foreign Policy, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation will actively promote, enhance and protect Guyana’s interests and image within the international community, through its efforts to effect the following:
- Preservation of Guyana’s sovereignty and territorial integrity
- Intensification of Guyana’s role as a proactive player in international affairs
- Harnessing in a structured manner the skills, expertise and other resources of the Guyanese Diaspora that can contribute to the country’s development
Vested with the authority to respond to administrative, financial and other resource obligations, the Ministry will be a key facilitator in Guyana’s efforts to achieve sustained economic development, thus significantly upgrading its contribution to the enrichment of the Guyanese people.
